Time is important for individuals preparing for pregnancy. Knowing when to see a fertility expert is crucial to increase your chances of success. If you have the following conditions, we suggest you to schedule an appointment with your doctor earlier:

Female

  • ≥ 35 years old and had tried conception for more than 6 months
  • Unable to get pregnant after a year of unprotected sex
  • Painful sex
  • Irregular period
  • Previous history of pelvic infection
  • Previous history of endometriosis
  • Previous pelvic or ovarian surgery
  • ≥3 miscarriages
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • Poor ovarian function
  • Had treatment or currently under treatment for cancer

Male

  • Erectile dysfunction or ejaculation difficulty
  • History of testicular or prostatic problem
  • Varicocele
  • Abnormal semen analysis including low sperm count or other problem
  • Had treatment or currently under treatment for cancer

Couples seeking for the reproductive technology procedure need to be assessed by our fertility specialists and nurses for the suitability to receive the treatment. The fertility treatment will proceed after the appropriate fertility screening is completed.

According to the “Human Reproductive Technology Ordinance”, the reproductive technology procedure can only be provided to legally married couples in monogamous marriage. Couples undergoing the treatment in our Unit must comply with the Ordinance.
